Access to legal help

Rule of law state requires accessibility of legal aid for everyone regardless of assets or social or other status. Access to legal aid is especially important for the socially disadvantaged groups. “Right for a lawyer” is indispensable element of principle of equality before the law and a right to fair trial.

 

Pro bono alliance strives to improve the access to legal aid through following sub-programs:

 

1) Pro Bono Centrum
Pro Bono Centrum matches the needs of civil society organizations and their clients for free legal aid with preferences of attorneys and law firms willing to provide pro bono legal services.

 

2) Legal Aid Information Centre
The Centre provides information to the citizens where and in which form they can access legal aid.

 

3) Legal aid scheme
Pro Bono Alliance advocates for improvement of state sponsored legal aid system.
 

 

Pro bono alince

Pro bono aliance’s primary goal is to make the Czech Republic’s legal instruments more effective in protecting human rights, public interests and important common values.

Pro bono aliance promotes increased access to legal help and socially responsible performance by legal professions.

To achieve its goals, PBA organizes educational events, supports the exchange of experience and information, cooperation between lawyers from NGOs and other legal professions, participates in legislative change , supports the activities of lawyers in other NGOs and spreads information about the protection of human rights.
